animation and its audience
Although there wasn't much to say about the controversial t.v. that appeared largely in the 90s. I agree that those paticular shows were widely for teens and adults. When I was a kid I remember disliking Bevis and Butthead because it didn't have action. I was used to watching the superhero cartoons on saturday mornings and whatever animated movie I could get my hands on. I'm sure it was also that I didn't understand the adult humor. I found the section about the various audience and their Disney experiences to be interesting. It made me think about my thoughts on my first remembered Disney film. My mom said the first disney movie she took me to was Beauty and the Beast. I don't remember that experience at all but I do remember seeing Lion King on the big screen. I can relate to some of the things the people were taking about as well. I remember seeing my dad choke up when Mufasa died because my grandpa ( his dad) passed away 3 years prior. The music and story moved me and I enjoyed it. In a strange sense, Lion King was the movie that ultimately inspired me. I started drawing the characters, acting out in imagination to certain scenes. I love that movie and will forever. I'm not saying it's the best animated film I've seen, nevertheless, that movie will always stay close to my heart because of an impacted it had over me.

I completely agree with you. I like the plots that focused on action more too. I still do unless it’s anime. I just find them more entertaining than humor. I saw The Little Mermaid in theaters but I just barely remember it. I do remember The Lion King. I think I cried and I watched it over and over again. I think it may be my favorite Disney movie. I really liked the characters. The visuals and plotline were also excellent.
ReplyDeleteI think everybody in our generation can remember watching the Lion King and at some point choking up. I always thought the laughing hyenas were funny in that movie. The Lion King is definitely one of the top Disney movies if not the best.
ReplyDeleteYou did naturally what all kids do after they watch something like Lion King, you played it out. Virtually every cartoon makes kids do that, especially Disney. Though my question for you Sam is how did you think Beavis and Butthead had no action? I mean yeah they played bad and ok music videos during the show. But they did go and do things as stupid as they were. Did you mean just the content in general? For instance throwing a dead squirel back and forth and playing fetch with it. (Yes they did that in an episode. haha)
ReplyDeleteMy mother didn't allow me to watch shows like The Simpsons or Beavis and Butthead when I was growing up, and I remember being angry about it because all my friends watched these shows. Looking back at it now though, I'm glad that I wasn't allowed to watch them; I don't think they are appropriate for children. Personally, I think that the humor in these adult shows is lame and mind-numbing. I think that these are shows that children shouldn't be allowed to watch until they are at an age where they have the capabilities of making good decisions.
ReplyDeleteI saw many adult animations when I was younger and I thought they stupid because I didn't understand them. I didn't really get the humor. Now that I'm older, I watched a lot of them again and I realized that they're stupid because they're not funny. When I saw Bevis and Butthead again I just wanted to die because of its stupidity. It's definitely not appropriate for children, and I think that no one should ever watch it again.
